Grief touches so many areas of our lives; from the death of a loved one to life transitions (e.g., retirement or empty nest) to illness or chronic pain. Grief is a loss of what once was and of what will never be. Grief is rooted in love. We cannot have one without the other. Grief involves learning how to fit into a space in our life that will never quite be the same as it once was. Grief takes a lot of patience, and sometimes the hardest part is accepting that time does not heal. Let's be real, our lives have forever changed. All we can do is learn to live differently and find beauty in new ways and new patterns – doing so is how we honour what once was. Taking time to pause and sit in the messy, painful, rawness of our grief – unconditionally and non-judgementally – is how we honour our feelings. And, when we are ready: we rise.
Whether navigating career changes, retiring, moving to new places, or embracing parenthood, transitions challenge resilience. As we walk through life, change is inevitable. However, the sea of emotion that comes along with change is often unpredictable and unsettling. Together, we can journey through these challenges. By noticing your strengths, we will build confidence and courage; so that you may appropriately set boundaries in your life that are necessary for your overall growth and happiness. Through gentle support and providing the comfort you require, I aim to empower you to delve deep and enact meaningful change in your life. My goal is to help you reclaim the peace, confidence, and equilibrium you aspire to achieve.
Depression, fear, stress, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience (and we all do) at some point in our lives. Through counselling and treatment, we work together so you may recover the motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life. For those of you that do not recall that feeling, we can use techniques like EMDR to lift the heavy dark cloud that seems to follow you. We can talk about what might work best for you.
You’ve trained and worked hard to get to where you are in your career as a first responder or service member. As you do your best to serve the community – feelings can build up over time, creating a dense wall between you and everyone around you. At times, there’s a feeling of despair that you cannot seem to escape, which often leads to depression, anxiety, or addiction. You may feel alone, disconnected and like nobody understands you. The stability and hope that you once knew may seem to have crumbled beneath you, leaving you with a feeling of powerlessness, as you grasp for a lifeline to bring you back to shore.
I am here to help you reconnect to your courage and strength. Through confidential dialogue and deep listening, we can return to the joyful moments that exist in your story. Or, for those of you who prefer not to talk so much about the details – we can use techniques like EMDR – we’ll tap into the brain’s natural ability to thrive. Either way, we will focus on your strengths so you may start healing and rediscover what gives you energy and hope.
I agree; life can be tumultuous. Still; peace and hope are within reach. Together, we’ll work through the pain so you can move forward, feeling happier, more connected, and alive. As you regain control of the life you want to live, I will be here to guide you back to your gifts and purpose.
