Guided by four core principles—Dedication, Hope, Humour, and Purpose—I foster a therapeutic environment rooted in commitment, optimism, empathy, and meaning, empowering clients on their journey toward growth and healing.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist and have earned a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology with Distinction. Drawing from over a decade of post-secondary education and enriched by my personal lived experiences, I am dedicated to supporting individuals navigating through traumatic life experiences. I hold additional training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Attachment Theory, CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) for cPTSD, Suicide Prevention (ASIST), Cultural Competency, and Behavioural Psychology (to name a few).
At Green Peak Therapy, I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and change. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their inner selves and overcome personal challenges. My approach is client-centred, collaborative, and evidence-based. I prioritize building a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship. If you sense I am walking side by side with you in your struggle, it's because I am.
I am acutely aware of the power of hope as a breeding ground for positive life change. I am also aware of the corrosive ability of stress and trauma to paralyze a person’s ability to function.
My mission is to guide others in liberating themselves from the burdens of their past, nurturing a sense of hope and authenticity. I believe in the inherent resilience within each of us, a fundamental aspect of our humanity. By embracing our shared human experience and fostering self-love, we unlock the capacity to extend compassion and understanding to others. It's about empowering individuals to not just survive, but thrive. Together, we embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery, enabling us to forge deeper connections and live more fulfilling lives grounded in love and authenticity.
In one of her many inspiring talks, I recall hearing Brené Brown quote poet Billy Collins, who once remarked, "Humour is the door to the serious". In that talk, she contemplates the universal experience of shame—an immobilizing, agonizing emotion, and how laughter—a language of joy, gratitude, and love—serves as a healing balm. It compels us to breathe deeply, forging desperately needed connections and wordless understanding, profoundly significant in our shared human experience.
So, yes, I deeply value humour as a powerful tool for breaking down barriers, easing tension, and infusing lightness into challenging or weighty discussions. It creates a more relaxed atmosphere, fostering openness and a deeper connection between myself and my clients.
In my person-centred psychotherapy practice, I offer a nurturing and secure space where individuals can explore their innermost thoughts and emotions. By compassionately listening, I strive to help others determine their purpose.
Viktor Frankl challenged, “Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.”
Wholeheartedly, it is my goal to empower others to experience healing. To let go of the heavy aches and pains. Or for some, to become less "numb". To feel. And most of all, recall that feeling of hope and wonder we were born with.
